Software Freedom Day @ Alexandria University 2011

SFD is an annual worldwide celebration of Free Software. SFD is a public education effort with the aim of increasing awareness of Free Software and its virtues, and encouraging its use.

It is my third year organizing this event and I am still extremely excited to it and full passion to make it the biggest event in Alexandria.

من مواعظ الحسن البصري رضي الله عنه كتب الحسن إلى عمر بن عبد العزيز: "إعلم أنّ التفكر يدعو إلى الخير والعمل به، والندم على الشر يدعو إلى تركه، وليس ما يفنى وإن كان كثيرا يعدل ما يبقى وإن كان طلبه عزيزا، فاحذر هذه الدار الصارعة الخادعة الخاتلة التي قد تزينت بخدعها وغرت بغرورها وقتلت أهلها بأملها وتشوفت لخطابها فأصبحت كالعروس المجلوة، العيون إليها ناظرة، والنفوس لها عاشقة، والقلوب إليها والهة ولألبابها دامغة وهي لأزواجها كلهم قاتلة، فلا الباقي بالماضي مُعتبر، ولا الآخر بما رأى من الأول مُزدجر، ولا اللبيب بكثرة التجارب منتفع.

فاحذرها الحذر كله فإنها مثل الحية لين ملمسها وسمها يقتل، فاعرض عما يعجبك فيها لقلة ما يصحبك منها، وضع عنك همومها لما عانيت من فجائعها، وأيقنت به من فراقها، وشدد ما اشتد منها الرخاء ما يصيبك، وكن ما تكون فيها احذر ما تكون لها فإن صاحبها كلما اطمأن فيها إلى سرور له، أشخصته عنها بمكروه، وكلما ظفر بشيء منها وثنى رجلا عليه انقلبت به، فالسار فيها غار، والنافع فيها غدا خار، وصل الرخاء فيها بالبلاء، وجعل البقاء فيها إلى فناء، سرورها مشوب بالحزن، وءاخر الحياة فيها الضعف والوهن، فانظر اليها نظر الزاهد المفارق ولا تنظر نظر العاشق الوامق، واعلم أنها تزيل الثاوي الساكن وتفجع الغرور الآمن، لا يرجع ما تولى منها فأدبر ولا يدري ما هو ءات فيها ينتظر".

وقال رضي الله عنه: "إن الدنيا دار عمل من صحبها بالنقص لها والزهادة فيها سعد بها نفعته صحبتها، ومن صحبها على الرغبة فيها والمحبة لها شقي بها وأسلمته إلى ما لا صبر له عليه ولا طاقة له به من عذاب الله، فأمرها صغير ومتاعها قليل، والفناء عليها مكتوب، والله تعالى ولي ميراثها، وأهلها محولون عنها إلى منازل ومنها يخرجون، فاحذروا ذلك الموطن وأكثروا ذلك المنفلت، واقطع يا ابن ءادم من الدنيا أكثر همك، ولا تميل إلى الدنيا فترديك منازل سوء مفضية بأهلها إلى ندامة طويلة وعذاب شديد، فلا تكونن يا ابن ءادم مغترا، ولا تأمن ما لم يأتك الأمن منه فإن الهول الأعظم ومفظعات الأمور أمامك لم تخلص منها حتى الآن، ولا بد من ذلك المسلك وحضور تلك الأمور إما يعافيك من شرها وينجيك من أهوالها، وإما الهلكة وهي منازل مخوفة محذورة مفزعة للقلوب، فلذلك فاعدد ومن شرها فاهرب، ولا يلهينك المتاع القليل الفاني، ولا تربص بنفسك فهي سريعة الانتقام من عمرك فبادر أجلك، ولا تقل غدا غدا فإنك لا تدري متى إلى الله تصير فان الحجة لله بالغة، والعذر بارز، وكل مواف الله عمله، ثم يكون القضاء من الله في عباده على أحد أمرين: فمقضي له رحمته وثوابه فيا لها نعمة وكرامة، ومقضي سخطه وعقوبته فيا لها من حسرة وندامة، ولكن حق على من جاءه البيان من الله بأن هذا أمره هو واقع أن يصغر في عينيه ما هو عند الله صغير، وأن يعظم في نفسه ما هو عند الله عظيم".

And here we start again . We are pleased to announce you Software Freedom day 2010@ Alexandria Unversity . Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). The goal in this celebration is to educate the worldwide public about the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business -- in short, everywhere!

The event will start from 24th August to 26thAugust 2010 in Bibliotheca Alexandria. Costs is Free and there will be a givways.

Egyptian Researcher build Kngine

Kngine is the next generation for search engine. It is the smartest search engine ever (proven by MIT ) and the amazing part is that it is developed by Egyptian researcher alone with zero budget.

VIMOV Internship

The first time I heard about VIMOV was through this video here .I liked this company a lot and wished that I graduate and work in such a company.

Two weeks ago, My TA sent me an email asking for my CV , to see if he can manage to get me in VIMOV, I have send my CV and the next day, I get a call for an interview.

Entering the company, I have seen third year students, So I said in myself, I have no chance :(.I entered the interview, It was really a nice interview with eng. Amr Ramdan. The next day he called me and I was accepted for internship at VIMOV. The other good news that I found my friend melody accepted too :). I am so excited for the training. So as usual wish me luck ^_^.

Graduation projects

The last days was the graduation projects discussions for fourth year students, I have attended three graduation projects:

• WNMI Web Network and Mail Integrator.
• A Location Based Routing Protocol for Cognitive Radio Networks.
• "IBN-SINA" Biological Relation Extraction Tools Using Biomedical Ontologies and Text Mining, which talked about employ the structure representations of ontologies to markup biomedical text documents. Based on established semantic links between documents and ontology concepts.

I still can't imagine what my graduation project will be, but luckily, I still have time :).

ITW

IEEE Alexandria Student Branch has organized the "Interact with Today's World" or simply Interact'10, formerly known as ITW. The event is three days,The last day is tomorrow isA. I have attended the past two days, the event was so great.,I have liked many sessions like : The 7 pillars of the knowledge revolution keynote speech by Dr Ismail Serageldin, Embedded Systems industry growth in the world and in Egypt by Eng.Hossam Yahia and Introduction to mobile development in Android Platform by Eng, Ahmed Elsayed, I really enjoyed the event . Hope to see all of you there next year :).
